The Short Answer

National online printers such as Custom Ink and Rush Order Tees are built for convenience: design in a browser, pay, and wait for a box. A local shop is built for orders where you want a person checking your art, a real proof, and the option to pick up in person. Both can print a good shirt. The right choice depends on your order.

When a National Online Printer Makes Sense

  • You already have print-ready art and know exactly what you want.
  • It's a one-time order and you're comfortable designing it yourself.
  • Nobody on your team is near the shop, and shipping is fine.

When a Local Shop Makes Sense

  • Your logo needs work. Low-resolution files, a photo of a business card, or a sketch are normal starting points. A local shop fixes the art before it hits a shirt.
  • You want to see it first. We send a digital mockup of your design on the actual garment, and nothing prints until you approve it.
  • You need several decoration types. Embroidered polos for the office, printed tees for the crew, and hi-vis shirts for the field can all come from one order, one shop, one invoice.
  • You'll reorder. A local shop keeps your art on file, so the next order is a text away.
  • You want a pickup option. Skip shipping time entirely by picking up in Tempe.

What to Compare on Any Quote

  1. All-in price per piece. Ask whether setup, screens, and digitizing are included. At Shirt52, setup and embroidery digitizing are included.
  2. Garment brand and style. Two quotes for "a black t-shirt" can be very different shirts. Compare the exact style number.
  3. Print size and locations. A left-chest logo and a full back print are different jobs.
  4. Turnaround from approval, not from order. Our production time is 10 to 15 business days from mockup approval.
  5. Who you can reach if something's wrong.
